Should I use Google products search (Froogle)

21 March 2009 208 views One Comment

There was a simple question:

I’ve got an ecommerce store. I’m trying to figure out if I should spend time getting Google Products / Base / froogle (whatever it’s called) set up for all my products. Sounds like a lot of work and a huge question mark if it will bring in sales.
Does anyone have experience, good or bad? Could save me a lot of time, or make me a lot of money!

And the answer was only the one:

It’s free, ultra targeted traffic. It really doesn’t get much better than that :).
I can associate between 50 - 100 clicks per day from google base / froogle for one of our sites, and it’s always converted well.

Absolutely worth it, make several sales through froogle /month.
As previous poster stated, it’s free.
You should tag all the URLS + set up a froogle (google base) profile to analyze that traffic.

I have no way to measure sales from Google Products/Base, but I’ve had customers tell me they used it to compare prices and liked mine.

I have used it with success. I have also noted that if you have Google Checkout you can get a positive rating on your site beside your listing. Helpful if you have 5 stars.

So, there was no one who has been disappointed using Google product search also known as Froogle.

With Google Product Search you increase traffic to your store  – for free. Google Product Search helps shoppers find and buy products across the web. As a seller, you can submit your products to Google Product Search, allowing shoppers to quickly and easily find your site.

The feed should be submitted once a month, because after 30 days your products will be automatically dropped out form the Froogle. But Google likes fresh content, so you can update your products every week and you can hope to have better ranking.

This service from Google is absolutely free. And it has several ways to upload your data:

  • Single item
  • Data feed
  • Store Connector
  • API

The best and the easiest practice would be to set up Data feed via FTP. You will save your time and you can even launch the cron job which will do for you every 7 days.

Don’t forget to check the other related Google products:
